The sea, beaches and coastlines form an important part of our natural heritage and are central to the Foundation’s work to educate and raise awareness. From inception, we have championed projects devoted to safeguarding the shoreline and marine ecosystems, in the belief that protecting this fragile environment is a collective responsibility.

Through awareness-raising initiatives, environmental education activities and community-based projects, we promote greater understanding of the marine environment and natural resources, engaging students, teachers and local communities. Our aim is to engage children and young people with issues relating to the sea and the marine environment through educational experiences that encourage active participation.

Workshops, games, educational experiences and field activities: through direct engagement, we bring children closer to the sea and its value, inspiring authentic and long-lasting understanding. More than 90,000 students and teachers have taken part in the Foundation’s programmes, including educational activities and hands-on experiences focused on the sea and coastal environment, such as beach clean-ups.

On board Costa ships and in schools, we develop educational activities that use the sea as a setting for exploring topics related to the environment, biodiversity and marine ecosystems.
